Evening Show Concept Work

Design

Some early concept work for a proposed Evening Show.

Brief:

The format of the show is a live studio show, anchored by... in Studio 1. Presentation will be free roaming, with key areas at a poseur table for standing presentation and for seated interviews, along with walking presentation at the video wall for story intros and explainers.

The show will focus on between 6 and 10 stories in-depth, covering them in a considered way with reportage packages, explainer graphics, and discussions with the reporters and other guests, both in the studio and remote. The tone will be relaxed, friendly, in-depth, intimate, and conversational.

The visual identity must convey the depth to which the stories will be covered, and the time of day that the show airs.

I approached this task by looking at both ends of the tonal spectrum from light and welcoming, to much harder, darker tones, reflecting the seriousness of the potential news stories. From these polar opposites the intention was to work my way toward a meeting ground somewhere in between, using graphical elements from other aspects of the news visual language to tie it into the same graphical family while keeping it it's own distinct show.

An unfinished effort.
